How to Create Customer Group ?


“Customer Group” allows you to assign registered members into different membership tiers and create exclusive promotions or discounts for members. With varying types of customer groups, you can motivate your members to increase their activity and spending in your store or even acquire new customers.

In this article:

Create Customer Group


Step 1 :

Go to Shopzpin Merchant > Customer > Customer Group, click Create Customer Group.

Step 2 :

Fill in the Customer Group Name (Eg. Silver Tier) and Customer Group Description.

Step 3 :

Click the arrow button and select your preferred template.

There are four types of template, which are:

  1. All-New Registration Customers
  2. All Customers
  3. Specific Customers
  4. Order Subtotal More than RM300

Step 4 :

Now, three columns appear below the template.

Click the Arrow button on of the left column to view the conditions :

Step 6 :

For example, if you want to create a customer group that spent an accumulated amount of RM500 or above in your store, select Total Order Spend.

Step 7 :

Click the Arrow Button on the middle column, and choose More Than or Equal.

Key in 500 in the right column.

Step 9 :

Before you create this customer group, you can preview the eligible customers by clicking View Eligible Customer button.

Step 10 :

Finally, click Create Customer Group to create the group.

Your Silver Tier customer group has been successfully created.

Examples for Different Conditions:


  1. Register Date :
  2. Condition based on customers’ registration date.

    Example : I want to create a customer group that members who registered before March 2021.

    1. Fill in the customer group name.
    2. Fill in the description.
    3. Choose All customers template.
    4. The first condition is to select Register Date.
    5. Filter select Less Than.
    6. The second condition is to select 1st March 2021.
    7. At last, click Create Customer Group to create the group.
    8. Group successfully created. This group will only show members who registered before March 20201.
  3. Total Order Spend :
  4. Condition based on total accumulated spend of customers.

    Example : I want to create a customer group where the total accumulated spend is higher than RM1,000.

    1. Fill in the customer group name.
    2. Fill in the description.
    3. Choose All customers template.
    4. The first condition selects Total Order Spend.
    5. Filter select More Than.
    6. The second condition is to fill in 1000.
    7. At last, click Create Customer Group to create the group.
    8. Group successfully created. This group will only show customers who accumulated purchases higher than RM1,000.
  5. Completed Order Count :
  6. Condition based on total accumulated completed order count of customers.

    Example : I want to create a customer group where the total accumulated completed order count is 5 or above.

    1. Fill in the customer group name.
    2. Fill in the description.
    3. Choose All customers template.
    4. The first condition selects Completed Order Count.
    5. Filter select More Than or Equal.
    6. The second condition fills in 5.
    7. At last, click Create Customer Group to create the group.
    8. Group successfully created. This group will only show customers who have 5 or above accumulated completed orders in your store.
  7. Product Review Count :
  8. Condition based on total accumulated product review count of customers.

    Example : I want to create a customer group where new registered members who leave at least 1 product review in my store.

    1. Fill in the customer group name.
    2. Fill in the description.
    3. Choose All New Registration Customers template.
    4. The first condition selects Product Review Count.
    5. Filter select More Than or Equal.
    6. The second condition fills in 1.
    7. At last, click Create Customer Group to create the group.
    8. Group successfully created. This group will only show customers who leave at least 1 product review in my store.
  9. Email :
  10. Condition based on customers email addresses.

    Example : I want to create a customer group where registered email contains the ‘X’ alphabet.

    1. Fill in the customer group name.
    2. Fill in the description.
    3. Choose All Customers template.
    4. The first condition selects Email.
    5. Filter select Contains.
    6. The second condition fills in X.
    7. At last, click Create Customer Group to create the group.
    8. Group successfully created. This group will only show those customers whose email contains the ‘X’ alphabet.
  11. Max Order Subtotal :
  12. Condition based on the highest spend in one single order.

    Example : I want to create a customer group who spend more than RM1,500 in a single completed order.

    1. Fill in the customer group name.
    2. Fill in the description.
    3. Choose All Customers template.
    4. The first condition selects Max Order Subtotal.
    5. Filter select More.
    6. The second condition fills in 1500.
    7. At last, click Create Customer Group to create the group.
    8. Group successfully created. This group will only show the customers who purchased more than RM1,500 in a single completed order.

How to deactivate the Customer Group ?


Step 1 :

Go to Shopzpin Merchant > Customer > Customer Group, find the customer group you wish to deactivate, click the Edit button.

Click the Deactivate button.
